PTA - Friends of Moorlands

Who are the Friends of Moorlands?

Friends of Moorlands is the name of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Moorlands Junior School. All families and staff at the school are automatically ‘Friends’ and we welcome parents, grandparents and carers from all year groups. We are a registered charity and our committee consists of four posts - Chairperson, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. These are voluntary roles, filled by parents with children at the school. They are flexible positions and can be shared. We rely on volunteers from all year groups to make our events a success.

What do the Friends of Moorlands do?

We raise valuable funds for the school by organising events. We want families to have fun and get to know each other and all the money we raise goes directly to the school. We have helped to fund the fantastic outdoor play area and library bus, new PE mats and a new sound system as well as funding vital trips and experiences for our children. Our past events have included Film Nights, Race Nights, Bonkers Bingo, Summer Fairs and dressing up days. We welcome Templemoor families at our events and are always happy to see new faces.

How can I get involved?

There are lots of opportunities to get involved and we need as much help as possible! At our events we usually need people to work in the kitchen, on the bar and on various stalls but we also need lots of people behind the scenes - cake bakers, pizza orderers, raffle ticket envelope stuffers, the list goes on!

  • Look out for posts on Class Dojo which will give information on volunteers for specific events.

  • Send us an email! You can join our email list, tell us any ideas for events, send us feedback or just say hello: moorlandsfom@gmail.com

  • Talk to a member of the committee. If you don’t know who to speak to, the office staff and teachers should be able to point you in the right direction.
