Pupil Ministries

At Moorlands Junior School, our Ministires from part of our wider Pupil Parliament Structure. They give pupils meaningful leadership opportunities and allow them to influence how the school is run. Through these roles, pupils develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility. Each Ministry focuses on a key area of school life, ensuring that pupil voice is central to decision-making and school improvement.

πŸ’› Ministry of Wellbeing and Mental Health πŸ’›

Lead Teacher: Miss Davidson This Ministry discusses the wellbeing and mental health provision at MJS. Pupils work to ensure that everyone feels happy, safe and supported in school. They promote Anti‑Bullying Week, lead awareness campaigns and help pupils understand how to access support when they need it.

 

πŸ“š Ministry of Education πŸ“š 

Lead Teacher: Mrs Booth This group completes pupil voice activities and shares feedback about what pupils enjoy in different subjects. They suggest improvements to teaching and learning, help shape curriculum experiences and ensure that pupils’ views are represented across all areas of school life.

 

🌿 Ministry of the Environment πŸŒΏ

Lead Teacher: Mr Clark This Ministry focuses on making MJS more eco‑friendly. Pupils run environmental projects, promote recycling and sustainability, and look at how outdoor learning can be developed and improved. They also explore ways to support the wider community in becoming more environmentally aware.

 

🚢 Ministry of Transport πŸšΆ

Lead Teacher: Mr Phillips This group ensures that all classes regularly complete their Living Streets walk‑to‑school logs. They run campaigns about road safety, mindful parking and active travel. Their aim is to keep pupils safe and encourage healthy, sustainable travel choices.

 

🏠 Ministry for the Home Office πŸ 

Lead Teachers: Mrs Shaw and Mrs Gregg Much like a traditional school council, this Ministry discusses whole‑school updates, gathers suggestions for school improvement and ensures pupils are kept informed about changes, including ongoing building work. They act as a bridge between pupils and staff.

 

🌈 Ministry for Equality πŸŒˆ 

Lead Teacher: Mrs Osborne This new Ministry promotes fairness, inclusion and equal opportunities for all pupils at Moorlands. The group works to ensure that every child feels represented, respected and valued, regardless of background, identity or need. They help raise awareness of diversity, celebrate different cultures and experiences, and support initiatives that promote kindness, respect and belonging across the school.
