Small Specialist Class ( Class WN)

Welcome to Class WN!

We hope you have had a lovely summer, had lots of rest and are ready for an exciting term!

Here are a few useful pieces of information:

Your Teachers and Teaching Assistants

Your teachers are Mrs. Norbury and Mrs. Wood.  Mrs. Norbury will be teaching you on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and Mrs. Wood will be teaching you on a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Your teaching assistants will be Mrs. Twine, Miss Harrison and Mrs. McKenzie.  Mrs. Twine works every day; Miss Harrison works on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Mrs. McKenzie with be working in our class on a Monday and Friday.

You will be given your homework every Monday.  Each week you will be asked to do a 4 pieces of homework:

1. Maths

2. English

3. Book talk

4. Spellings

Try to hand in all of your homework before the following Monday.  If you are busy then please do your homework when you have time.  You can always come to Mrs. Wood’s homework club on a Friday lunchtime to finish it.

Spelling Test

We will test your spellings on a Friday morning and send home your score.  If you need some help to learn your spellings, there is a good App called Squeebles Spelling that rewards you with a game when you finish your test.  It takes a bit of work to set up each week but has helped Mrs. Wood’s daughter to almost enjoy learning her words!

Reading at Home

We would also like you to read at home every day.  Even just two pages would help you!

Our indoor P.E lesson will be on a Tuesday and outdoor P.E on a Friday.  Please keep your P.E kit in school all half term, especially your trainers as we will be going out most days to do our ‘Moorlands Mile’ run around the school.  Some children will also need their P.E kit on a Thursday afternoon when we have our ‘A and E’ (Achievement and Enrichment) afternoon.

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a really useful App that allows teachers and parents to message each other.  The parents who joined it last year found it really useful to send us quick messages and ask us questions.  If you would like to join our Class Dojo, you can either download the App or logon to a computer and enter the details that we have put in your child’s home/school book.

Our topics for the term:

We have some very exciting topics to cover this half term! We will be covering our Humanities and Science topic work during two dedicated weeks during the autumn term.  In addition to our weekly recorder lesson with Mrs. Twine, Trafford Music Services will be coming in to teach us how to play the ocarina and the ukulele.

If you have any questions or queries our door is always open.  We realise this is more difficult for parents of children who are on school transport, but if you want to ask a question about anything then please either write a note in the home/school book ; contact us via the office or on Class Dojo.  We are both parents ourselves and would much rather have a quick chat with you, than you sit at home worrying or unsure about something.

We are both very excited about all the things that we have planned for WN this year.

Welcome back.

Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Norbury
